VIETNAM HAS A TRADE SURPLUS OF 9.4 BILLION USD IN 10 MONTHS

According to preliminary data of the General Department of Customs, in October 2022, the total import and export value of Vietnam's goods is estimated at 58.27 billion USD, approximately the same as the import and export value of the previous month (slightly increased 70 million USD). In which, the total export value increased by 1.5% and the total import value decreased by 1.3%.

The total import-export value of the country in 10 months increased by more than 14% in absolute terms compared to the same period in 2021. In which, the total export value increased by 15.9% and the total import value increased by more than 12%.

Thus, in October, the country had a trade surplus of 2.27 billion USD. Generally from the beginning of the year to the end of October 2022, the country has an estimated trade surplus of 9.4 billion USD. 

Also according to information from the General Department of Customs, state budget revenue from import and export activities from October 1-31 reached 32,490 billion VND. Accumulated from January 1 to October 31, reaching 103% of the assigned balance, reaching 86.3% of the striving target, an increase of 14.6% over the same period in 2021.

The Insured’s Duty to Prevent and Mitigate Losses

Company T (Plaintiff – the Insured) entered into an insurance contract with Company B (Defendant – the Insurer). Insurance Contracts Do Not Automatically Terminate Due to Late Premium Payment

Under the insurance contract, the premium was to be paid in three installments, and in all three, the insured party was late in payment. When a dispute arose, the insurer (Defendant) argued that the insurance contract had terminated before the insured event occurred due to the late premium payment and therefore refused to make an insurance payout. However, the Arbitral Tribunal held a contrary view.
