GLOTRANS ATTENDED THE CONFERENCE "LOGISTICS VIETNAM INTEGRATES INTO THE ASIAN ECONOMIC COMMUNITY 2015 (AEC)”

On November 27, 2015, in Ho Chi Minh City, GLOTRANS attended the event "Logistics Vietnam integrates into the Asian economic community 2015 (AEC)" jointly organized by Vietnam Logistics Media Company (VLM) and the Association of Logistics Service Enterprises. (VLA) and Logistics Research and Development Institute (VLI) co-hosted.

Attending the conference were many representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Transport, the General Department of Customs, the Import-Export Department, the Vietnam Maritime Administration and the Vietnam Logistics Association.

On the international side, there were leaders from the logistics associations of Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Philippines, Brunei, Indonesia.

The conference brings together more than 150 enterprises in the logistics industry: Vietnamese shippers, manufacturing, import and export companies, Logistics companies, forwarding companies, transportation enterprises, airlines, airlines. ships, seaports, insurance companies, inspection companies, consulting companies, those who are individuals interested in the field of logistics together with representatives of logistics associations, experts from 10 countries. ASEAN members and neighboring countries such as Korea, Japan, and Hong Kong also attended.

The Insured’s Duty to Prevent and Mitigate Losses

Company T (Plaintiff – the Insured) entered into an insurance contract with Company B (Defendant – the Insurer). After the insured event occurred, the Insurer alleged that the Insured had violated its obligation to prevent and mitigate losses. The Arbitral Tribunal acknowledged that such an obligation exists but concluded that the Insured did not breach it.

Insurance Contracts Do Not Automatically Terminate Due to Late Premium Payment

Under the insurance contract, the premium was to be paid in three installments, and in all three, the insured party was late in payment. When a dispute arose, the insurer (Defendant) argued that the insurance contract had terminated before the insured event occurred due to the late premium payment and therefore refused to make an insurance payout. However, the Arbitral Tribunal held a contrary view.
