GLOTRANS RECEIVED A CERTIFICATE OF VCCI MEMBERSHIP

On 4th March 2011, Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) Haiphong Branch in coordination with the Office of Hai Duong People's Committee held a Conference of Business in North Coast 2011.

In attendance the conference, there came Mr Hoang Van Dung, Vice Chairman of Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Mr Le Hong Van, Vice Chairman of Hai Duong People's Committee; representatives of Ministries, cities and more than 1,000 enterprises in the area.

At the conference, VCCI summarized and evaluated activities to promote trade and investment, support business development in 2010 and set out guidelines and tasks to support enterprise in northern coastal region in 2011. Enterprises participated in contributing their opinions on emerged issues, such as port services in the region.

The Insured’s Duty to Prevent and Mitigate Losses

Company T (Plaintiff – the Insured) entered into an insurance contract with Company B (Defendant – the Insurer). After the insured event occurred, the Insurer alleged that the Insured had violated its obligation to prevent and mitigate losses. The Arbitral Tribunal acknowledged that such an obligation exists but concluded that the Insured did not breach it.

Insurance Contracts Do Not Automatically Terminate Due to Late Premium Payment

Under the insurance contract, the premium was to be paid in three installments, and in all three, the insured party was late in payment. When a dispute arose, the insurer (Defendant) argued that the insurance contract had terminated before the insured event occurred due to the late premium payment and therefore refused to make an insurance payout. However, the Arbitral Tribunal held a contrary view.
